The rule of 180 when filming is when you film something at an angle than you cannot go past 180 degrees as it would confuse the audience. The only exception to this rule is if the audience follows the change so if if the camera rotates or pans around the person the camera is focused on then it seems as if the audience has moved with the character.
Shot Reverse Shot:
Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. shot reverse shot is often used to show different peoples/characters perspectives. then the audience become involved in their conversation.
30 degree rule:
The 30-degree rule is a basic film editing guideline that states the camera should move at least 30 degrees between shots of the same subject occurring in succession. Otherwise it could look like a jump cut and wont look very effective.
Match on action
Cutting on action or matching on action refers to film editing and video editing techniques where the editor cuts from one shot to another view that matches the first shot's action. for example someone could be walking towards a door then a cut to their hand opening the door then back to the same character going through the door
Rule of thirds:
The rule of thirds is a powerful compositional technique for making the shot more interesting and dynamic. It's also perhaps one of the most well known. when filming a composition it is important to place the subject within the teh 4 blue points shown in the diagram below.
